What We Do
After a tree is removed — or when you’ve inherited an old stump in your yard — stump grinding is the clean, permanent solution. We grind the stump 6–12 inches below grade, remove or spread the grindings, and leave the area ready for grass seed, sod, or replanting.
Why Remove the Stump?
- Tripping hazard — Stumps at or near ground level are a safety issue, especially at night.
- Pest magnet — Rotting wood attracts termites, carpenter ants, and wood-boring beetles that can spread to your home.
- Mowing obstacle — Stumps make mowing awkward and can damage equipment.
- Regrowth — Some species (Bradford pear, elm) aggressively resprout from stumps for years.
- Property value — A stump-free yard looks cleaner and is more appealing to buyers.
Bundle With Tree Removal
We recommend combining stump grinding with tree removal on the same day — it’s more efficient, and we can often discount the grinding when our equipment is already on site.
Frequently Asked Questions
How deep do you grind?
Standard is 6–8 inches below grade. We can go deeper if you’re pouring concrete or need a completely flush surface.
What happens to the grindings?
We can spread them as mulch in the hole (grindings settle as they decompose), or haul them off — your choice.
Will the stump regrow after grinding?
No. Once a stump is ground below grade, regrowth is not possible.
How big is your grinder? Can you fit through a gate?
We have equipment sized for both wide-open spaces and tight residential access. Let us know about your fence gate or access constraints when you call.
